BLON is proud to announce that this year, we will be giving the special WINGS Award. This award highlights outstanding games where women and other gender marginalised developers hold key positions.

Netherlands

Zuraida Buter (she/her) is a playful arts curator based in the Netherlands. She curates, consults and documents events, exhibitions and projects focused on playful arts, digital culture and games. Working on different local and international projects has given her the opportunity to highlight and connect a wide range of different (game) projects and artists throughout the years. In 2020 she was awarded the Game Changer award by IndieCade (US). In 2024 she won the Inclusion Award at the Dutch Game Awards. She is co-founder of Playful Arts Festival, is currently program curator for A MAZE. / Berlin and works with Sickhouse (NL) on projects such as the Overkill festival and SickProd, a mentorship for emerging playful creatives.

Stop-Motion Puppet Animation Exhibition

BLON Animation and Games Festival invites you to a Stop-Motion Puppet Animation Exhibition at the Klaipėda Puppet Theater! Puppet stop-motion animation is a technique in which physical puppets or figures are moved incrementally and photographed at each stage, creating the illusion that they move on their own. The exhibition will showcase characters and sets used in the making of three animated films: “Living Large” (animator Viliam Vala), “On Weary Wings Go By” (director and animator Anu-Laura Tuttelberg), and “The Conductor” (director and animator Antanas Skučas). We invite you to explore the exhibition and meet its creators! We are continuing a games programme entitled the ‘Aware Game Awards’ (AGA). This programme is dedicated to celebrating those games that strive to raise awareness about a range of topics, from personal experiences to global or social issues – games that focus on immersion and empathy, helping us to better understand each other and the world around us.
