BLON Animation and Games Festival invites filmmakers to submit short animated films for its competition programs. The 12th edition of the festival will take place September 10–13, 2026, in Klaipėda, Lithuania.

This year’s festival will feature five competition programs:

Each year, the festival presents around 100 short films from around the world. The competition programs are evaluated by international juries, which select the winners. The International Young Audiences Competition, introduced for the first time in 2025, is judged by school students from the city of Klaipėda, who also select the winning film.

Since 2024, BLON Animation and Video Games Festival has been a BAFTA-qualifying festival. As a result, UK short animated films screened at BLON are eligible to apply for the BAFTA Awards.

Film submissions are made through the Northern Animation Network platform, which helps creators reach international audiences more easily. With a single submission, films will be considered by four animation festivals:

Supported by Creative Europe MEDIA, the Northern Animation Network is a collaborative project between Fredrikstad Animation Festival (Norway), Viborg Animation Festival (Denmark), REX Animation Festival (Sweden), and BLON Animation and Games Festival (Lithuania). The network fosters cross-border collaboration and expands opportunities for animation talent and industry professionals across the region.

It offers a streamlined, centralized submission process through a single platform, giving filmmakers the opportunity to connect with industry professionals, fellow creators, and engaged festival audiences while presenting their work on an international festival circuit.

Submissions are open from February 1 to May 3, 2026.
