Gamification – a historic perspective

Gamification—a historic perspective. The seminar will discuss a current status of affairs in the field of various intertwined strategies, which range from animation and video-games to effective marketing strategies and are commonly labeled under an umbrella-term “gamification”. The analysis will address such topics as selection of effective research tools and choosing a relevant historical context when trying to understand this phenomenon. Special attention will be given to the role of contemporary processor-mediated technologies (computer, smart phones and etc.), and the future trajectories of gamification especially considering the unstoppable march towards ever smarter AI, ever larger “global village” and ever more clever tactics in shaping user behavior leading to possibly deep ramifications in political milieu as the rise of gamified ideology.
