Meet the "Aware Game Awards" Jury

31 August 2026

The Aware Game Awards celebrate games that go beyond entertainment. Through interactive storytelling and play, they explore personal experiences as well as social and global issues, invite players to see the world from different perspectives, and show the potential of games as a medium for meaningful ideas.

The 2026 Aware Game Awards jury:

Pablo F. Quarta – narrative designer, game producer and co-founder of the independent game development cooperative Matajuegos, Argentina.

Mažvydas Jastramskis – political scientist and video game enthusiast, Lithuania.

Marie Janin – organiser at the art space Sickhouse, working across playful art and digital culture, the Netherlands.

Marko Tadić – visual artist working across drawing, collage, animation and installation, Croatia.

Ruth Lemmen – independent games industry consultant, coach, mediator and project manager, Germany.

This year, the jury will evaluate 12 games selected for the Aware Game Awards competition, representing the Netherlands, Argentina, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Czechia, Lithuania and South Africa.

The selected works explore themes ranging from memory and identity to power, technology, history and the environment, using games not only as experiences to play through, but also as spaces for reflection and questioning.

The winners of the Aware Game Awards will be announced during the BLON festival, taking place in Klaipėda on 10–13 September.
